Nonprofit performing arts presenter in Portland since 1931 — Broadway tours, classical music, dance, and theater at Merrill Auditorium, led by Executive Director Aimée Petrin since 2006.
Portland Ovations is a Maine performing arts nonprofit with a 95-year legacy stretching back to the Portland Music Commission of 1931. Each curated season delivers Broadway national tours, classical artists, dance companies, jazz, opera, and genre-bending performances primarily at the 1,900-seat Merrill Auditorium (20 Myrtle Street) — which Ovations helped reimagine and renovate in 1997 through a landmark partnership with the Portland Symphony Orchestra, Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ, and the City of Portland. The organization's offices are at 50 Monument Square. Executive and Artistic Director Aimée Petrin has led the organization since 2006. Beyond ticketed performances, Ovations Offstage brings workshops, masterclasses, and pre-performance lectures into the community, and the School-Time Performances program connects thousands of Maine students to live arts every year.
