Shelter Institute is an independent outdoor gear business based in Midcoast Maine. The Woolwich timber-framing institution—three generations strong since 1974—runs Shelter Tools, a curated retail and online shop carrying hand-forged Swedish axes, Maine-made heirloom axes, Japanese pull saws, Peavey Manufacturing logging tools, German precision tools, and timber-framing chisels.
