European-style cafe across from the Portland Museum of Art, opened July 2025 with no Wi-Fi, rotating art exhibits, and espresso from Claw and Lay Day roasters.
Flatiron Coffee Bar opened July 2025 at 594 Congress Street in the historic Flatiron building's Hay Building footprint, replacing a longtime Starbucks across from the Portland Museum of Art. Owners Rhonda Pearle and Gary Perlmutter (a classical realist painter and longtime orthopedic surgeon who runs the Pearl Gallery upstairs) built it as a European-style cafe with no Wi-Fi, a 10–12-seat bar, and rotating monthly art exhibits in place of outlets. Espresso drinks on a three-group La Marzocco Linea Classic from Claw Coffee Roasters and Lay Day Roasters, plus energy spritzes, pastries, and gelato. Daily, 7:30am–3pm.
